Just in the past few weeks there has been a dramatic shift in the season. The consequences of which has resulted in vibrant fall colours both in my garden and Fintry Provincial Park. I headed out with my camera in hand to capture these Autumn moments as they will be gone before you know it.
First up of course is The Avenue. I never tire of watching the seasons change along this path. When first approaching there is a mixture of green and yellow on the outer edge. As you enter the Avenue you are taken aback with the bright yellow leaves. I hardly needed any filters in these shots.
As we near the end of the Avenue our walk takes us through a path that leads us to the lake. Of note are the snow berries and rose hips. No wonder we .have an abundance of bears in the area with easy access to all this food.
On reaching the lake large clouds are looming in the background with the promise of rain.
Moving on towards the boat ramp there are still large displays of yellow and across through the Manor House grounds I notice the large copper beach tree turning.
Since returning from our trip away Thanksgiving there has definitely been a lot of bear activity in our garden. I think in fact we have had several bears visit from seeing the various scat. My husband and I spent the whole day cleaning up the grape arbour with a harsh prune. I am sure the bear(s) were very disappointed to find no more grapes available. The front porch and patio area looks very bare now with a little colour provided by the chrysanthemum. I also still have an annual diascia blooming in the front container. Leaves are turning fast in the garden too. My hydrangea paniculata just changed overnight.
There are still flowers blooming in my garden beds including the asters and chrysanthemums. I finally had to prune the perennial sunflowers as the flowers had faded. Over the next few weeks I will continue to prune the perennials and there will be a considerable amount of leaf raking.
Wishing you all a very Happy Halloween
