After all the years that we have been camping in the Okanagan/Shuswap area, we have never been to Mabel Lake (about a 30 to 40 minute drive from Lumby, BC).  Finally we made the trip this last week and it was certainly well worth it.  It is such a beautiful spot with well laid out campsites and trails.  The road getting in is not the greatest particularly when you are towing a 5th wheel.   We just took the road slowly and admired the scenic views along the way.  I am always on the look out too for wild flowers and was intrigued by the orange hawkweed which I have since discovered is an invasive weed.  It was very pretty though in mass along the verges.  I also spotted  wild honeysuckle and the odd wild tiger lily.  

While taking my daughter’s dog (Rufuss) for a walk, I managed to capture two marmotes poking out of their abode.  In fact, there is an abundance of marmotes in the park that are quite entertaining to watch.  Obviously this is a great lake to fish in and I was hoping that my husband would catch a trout, but sadly no luck.

I was certainly glad that we made it here – another check mark on camping spots within a small radius of where we live.
