The Avenue – Fintry Provincial Park

I felt that a blog post was warranted today after my walk through Fintry Provincial Park. (www.fintryprovincialpark.com).  Even though we take this walk most days I have not brought my camera with me in a while.  With snow boots and snow gear on my husband and I trudged through the snow.  It was quite the adventure.  We have had a significant amount of snow fall these past few days so it is at least a foot deep if not more.

It was certainly well worth it.  Not only were we getting some good exercise but I captured some lovely shots showing yet again a winter wonderland.

Here are just a few of my favourites.

Shorts Creek is Starting to Freeze
Red Rose hips Peaking Through the Snow
Pine Boughs Laden with Snow
Remains of Dun Waters Outbuildings

We are due for some record breaking low temperatures so I am glad we took this opportunity to get out.  Time to snuggle up indoors and get into a good book.

Faded Leaves Blanketed with Snow

Meanwhile in the garden I have put burlap around some of my shrubs including putting lots of mulch and snow on the base of the roses.  Doing my best this year to save the arbor roses.  The more tender shrubs and plants are safely protected in the garage.  They would never survive  -20 + temperatures.
