I have been loving the sunny days although this past week I did get a little concerned with dropping temperatures and the morning frosts.  I have been busy tidying up my perennials cutting off the dead stalks and I have started to remove some of the leaf mulch to allow the bulbs to come through.

There are many bulb shoots coming up in the garden in particular tulips.  Unfortunately, the daffodils do not do so well in my garden which is a shame.  However, at this time of the year you can start picking up potted bulbs which gives me added colour in the garden although I am going to have to wait for the temperatures to warm up at night before I place them in the garden.  I picked up some netting from the dollar store as even though we have fencing around the garden, the deer love my tulips and I am doing my best to protect them.

At this time of the year, I love putting Spring containers together and  eventually place them on the deck outside the entrance to my house.  They are such a cheery welcome and with Easter being so early this year they will be ready just in time.    It is very easy to put these together with just a combination of miniature bulbs, primroses, pansies, bellis and a feature plant such as heather.   Even just a one themed container  i.e. a combination of pansies looks great.

As mentioned in my last post I have made a start too on sowing a few seeds indoors and already have potted up some cherry, super sweet and beefsteak tomatoes, a few cucumbers, cilantro, sweet peas and nasturtiums.  The basil has germinated but will take a while before it can be potted up to the next stage.  I have just sowed some rosemary seeds.  As much as I try to keep the rosemary each year, I have been unsuccessful thus far. These are my mainstays each year.  The dollar store is an excellent source for picking up seed trays, markers and even potting soil.
