Mid to late May Flowers

May flowers, Perennials, Plant Material / Tuesday, May 26th, 2015

Now as the temperatures warm up, we move into the next stage of flowering in the Findleberry Garden.  With looking at all the photos I have taken this past week, I really do have a theme from the blue Jacob’s Ladder to my hardy blue geranium and now my low blue growing campanula.  The perennial flax with its delicate blue flowers and leaves as previously mentioned is one of my favourites.

Forgot to mention the creeping blue veronica which also has lovely delicate flowers and looks great in the rockery garden.

The pyrethrum (painted daisy) adds contrast with its striking rosy pink colour and then my maroon and white aquilegia also adds a different perspective to my colour scheme.

The star of the show though is my ruby-red peony.  This is only a single variety but again is certainly a feature plant in my bird bath bed.

Please note:  I will be doing a separate post totally dedicated to the growing and caring of peonies.

Following shortly will be my next peony bush, the double pink variety, my all time favourite, and then it will be the start of rose season.  I am getting quite a collection now as they grow so well in the Okanagan.
