Early Morning View of Pond & Fountain

The favourite part of my day is going out in the garden first thing in the morning.  With the early morning sunlight it is a welcoming sight.  I check all the garden beds and see what has come into bloom.  Finally the first wave of tulips are flowering and varied types of daffodil including the thalia, sorbet and double parrot varieties.  It is hard to believe that we are still in uncertain times.  With trying to keep at home as much as possible I am so thankful that I can escape to the garden or greenhouse.  Fintry Provincial Park remains closed so we are walking around the neighbourhood twice a day to get our dose of daily exercise.

I always find it difficult at this time of year deciding what to take out of the greenhouse as temperatures have such a wide variation.  So far I have planted out some sweet pea seedlings, lettuce and a few sunflowers.  They all seem to be doing fine.  I have also put my hanging baskets and containers out.  Now that the irrigation system is on it is a good time; plus they are sheltered by the overhang from the house.  Even my old cat “Butsy” is enjoying the early morning sunshine.

With a mix of sun and rain the garden is looking very lush at the moment with plenty of new growth in the beds and new leaves emerging daily on the trees.

Enjoy these spring days as best you can.  Even if you only have a small area a potted container can brighten the day.  We have been entertained lately by a pair of ducks.  The female just loves to sit in the pond.  They do not seem to be shy and come straight to our front door.

A shout out once again to all those essential workers out there that put themselves at risk every day.

Happy Gardening….until next time.

Would love to hear your feedback.
