Now in the Southern Okanagan area it is a good time to plant out annuals both in containers, baskets and beds as well as any half hardy perennials. I think it is safe to say we are now clear of frost. Far too often I have planted out tender plants too early and due to a late frost have sadly lost them.
With having the greenhouse, over the past month I have been slowly hardening off my tender plants, i.e. bringing the hanging baskets out for example each day and then putting them back in the greenhouse at night. This slowly acclimatises them to the outdoor temperatures.
Obviously this is also the right time to plant out seeds both in the vegetable garden and flower beds as the soil has warmed up enough. As we have had some very high temperatures this past week, I have constantly been watering my newly seeded areas as well as young seedlings.
