After walking through the garden this morning, the plants seemed to have bounced back with a reprieve from the heat and the benefits of a summer rainfall.  The roses now have petered off and buds are already forming for the next set of blooms.  I am hoping that my sunflowers will bloom within the next couple of weeks as my neighbor’s daughter is needing them for her wedding flower displays.  I was busy yesterday helping Colleen make place settings using succulents planted in small terra cotta pots.  It is amazing how many pots we made up from the “hens and chickens” variety and a few sedums/stonecrop from my garden.

This past weekend I had some former co-workers come visit.  It was through their eyes that I realized that we are really fortunate to be living in Fintry.  They were in awe of my garden and the benefits of having long walks in the Provincial park.  They also enjoyed dining “al fresco” and picking the lettuce, spinach and kale straight from our vegetable garden.  (We recently enhanced the outside dining area extending the trellis work and replaced the original vines with grape vines.  It has created a lovely cool area to sit and eat during early mornings and evenings).  We sat around the fire pit and reminisced on the days that we used to work together.  The highlight was taking them out on the lake and exploring the shore line with the varied homes and resorts.  It was lovely seeing you Donna and Lori…look forward to you coming to visit again soon.
