One of our favorite walking spots when the temperatures reach the mid 30’s is along Shorts Creek and through the “Avenue”. Rufuss (our daughter’s dog) just loves to run in and out of the creek to keep cool. The scene varies through each season particularly along the tree lined avenue and I love the way the sunlight filters through the trees and reflects on the water.
Depending on the time of day, we may hear the distant sounds of coyotes and once in a while we will spot a bear or two in the distance (thank goodness). Eventually we wind our way down to the beach and we usually sit on a log and take in the various views around the lake while Rufuss incessantly digs holes and plays with the rocks. Again this is one of the pleasures of being retired and being able to do this every day.
