I love to take photos in the early morning light as it catches the blooms in the garden. My double pink peony is now fully in bloom and I am hoping that the rain will hold off for a while so that we can fully appreciate the flowers.
The oriental poppies continue to bloom and fascinate me. I love the way the light catches the papery petals.
Sadly the blooms of the ruby-red peony are starting to fade but I still have a good display of the blue flax and white-painted daisy, plus a few yellow day lilies.
In the rockery garden the blue veronica is adding colour as the earlier rockery plants have faded. This is another resilient perennial which has lovely delicate sky blue flowers on spires and does well in rock gardens and by dry walls.
I always enjoy adding fragrant plants to the garden and now the honeysuckle is in full bloom and the scent is intoxicating in the evening as I sit out on the porch. Soon further fragrance will be added by the various roses that I have planted throughout the garden.
I have to say my garden is a little sanctuary and attracts so many birds. I have tried to capture the orange/yellow oriole but no success so far.
