2016 Spring/Summer Moments
2016 Another year has gone by and I always like to review highlights of the garden year and my photography exploits which went beyond just floral. Here are some of my favourite memories.
I always look forward to spring as it is a long stretch between January and March. The early blooming witch hazel blooms without fail during February. The yellow flowers are bright and cheery and also provide a little fragrance. 
After the dreary winter months the spring bulbs are always a welcome sight to see. I usually get a little impatient and buy a basket of mixed bulbs to have indoors while I am waiting for the outdoor bulbs to bloom.
By early summer the garden really comes alive. My favourite flowers are peonies and the many roses that I have blooming. The front rockery garden is at its best. So much so I won a photography contest this year in the “Best Perennial Garden” catergoy; always very encouraging. We also start to enjoy both our camping trips and MG runs. This year we were fortunate to go on a run in Wenatchee in the states which included a quick trip to the northern part of the Oregon coast. You always get to explore areas that we probably would have never discovered.

Mid summer the garden is at its best and I was also privileged to photograph two weddings in June and August along with Mark Your Moments Photography (@markyourmoments).
The vibrant colours of the garden still continued on through late August and September particularly as we had a very mild fall this year. Some of the annuals were still blooming at the beginning of December before the frost arrived. We managed to fit in another camping trip keeping close to home in the southern okanagan area, plus one more wedding shoot at Cedar Creek Winery.

With many visitors we took advantage of touring a few of the vineyards in our area including Summerhill, Vibrant Vines and Arrowleaf.
We have now come full circle and throughout October and November I was still able to enjoy time in the garden and my regular walks in Finty Provincial Park.
When December arrives I enjoy the quieter times and getting ready for the Christmas season including making outdoor wreaths/arrangements to baking and crafts. More recently with a blanket of snow it has been fun feeding and watching the birds.
