The Benefits of a Greenhouse

I can’t say enough about the benefits of having a greenhouse.  Not only can I start my vegetable and flower seeds, but also I can get a head start on my hanging baskets.  Each year I do at least six baskets.  As soon as I can pick up the basket stuffers, I make the baskets up.  My main feature plants, i.e. geraniums and fuschias I wintered over from last year.   This year I experimented too with growing the begonias from bought tubers.

I have already started to do my second potting up of seedlings, i.e. once there are two sets of leaves, it’s time to pot the seedling up into a bigger container.

Everything is coming along really well.  We are already picking some romaine lettuce (I did cheat a bit and bought two plants from The Greenery 2 or 3 weeks ago).   My cherry tomato seedlings are doing well too particularly the Latah variety I bought from Stellar seeds.
