Happy Valentine’s Day.  As an alternative to buying roses for that special person, I think spring bulbs are a great choice; in particular tulips.  They come in an array of colours, are reasonable and work just as well.

With me being the practical one, I like to go a step further and buy potted tulips.  This way you not only enjoy the flowers but once faded, you can eventually plant them in the garden.  

Another favourite flower on my list is freesias.  Sadly though in the area we live in I have great difficulty finding them this time of year.  I just love the delicate flowers and fragrance.

Having just celebrated my wedding anniversary and birthday Valentine’s day is pretty low-key in our household.  In any case I already have a collection of potted bulbs, several miniature roses, primula and a beautiful blue and white cineraria.  What more do I need.
