I can’t believe that it is October already.  September went in a whirlwind with a combination of road trips, spending time with family and various commitments.  Little has been done in the garden but today I did make a start on dismantling the hanging baskets and pruning back some of the shrubs and plants.   My husband is busy blowing out the irrigation lines which is usually a good time to start taking the baskets down.   With a combination of cuttings, twigs and branches I put together an outside arrangement which I spritzed with hairspray to help prevent the leaves from wilting and dropping.  I will be happy at least if it stays in place until Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving…I certainly have a lot to be grateful for and I thought on my recent trip to Calgary, Alberta how lucky we are to live in Canada and experience the spectacular views of the rocky mountains and the splendour of the fall colours.

I am amazed how the annuals are still performing in the garden and I can’t bring myself to totally pull everything out yet.    Talking of annuals I could not help but notice the snapdragons and in particular a vibrant blue annual salvia outside the Banff Springs Hotel.

All that remains to be said is I wish all of my readers a very Happy Thanksgiving and hope you all have something to be thankful for.
