I unexpectedly visited Guisachan Heritage Park as I was originally attracted to a flower show on location there. Lovely to see all the floral arrangements but I was even more taken in with the beautiful perennial flower beds along my walk through this park. I did not realize its historical significance. In the 1800’s it was owned by Lord and Lady Aberdeen. Lord Aberdeen served as the Governor General of Canada from 1893 to 1896. The property was later purchased by the Cameron family. The quaint restaurant is part of the original Guisachan house and has so much character.
The garden displays are amazing. Large groups of perennial flowers from shasta daises, coreopsis, lilies, phlox…the list goes on. A peaceful shady area with clumps of hostas and shade loving plants. While I was strolling through there was a wedding rehearsal taking place. What a perfect spot to have a wedding venue. I wandered into the restaurant which has already been partly set up for the wedding and was very taken with the decor and surroundings. It would only house a small party so would be perfect for a “boutique” event.
Going back to the reason I was visiting. The floral arrangements were in all shapes and forms but this was one I voted for. Loved the use of colour and texture in this planted container.
I hope you are all enjoying your Canada Day weekend. If you are interested in display gardens I highly recommend a visit.
