Colleen's honeysuckle

IMG_3065

This post is dedicated to my neighbor Colleen who encouraged me to write a blog regarding her honeysuckle vine.   One of the delights of gardening is being able to share cuttings and seedlings with family, friends and neighbors.  Not long after we moved to Fintry, I gave Colleen a cutting from a honeysuckle vine I had growing in my garden in Agassiz.  In no time at all, the honeysuckle was overflowing right by their porch so it not only provides privacy for them, but when they sit outside of an evening they can enjoy the lovely perfume from the honeysuckle blooms.  I have since taken a cutting myself so it if takes, we would have gone full circle.

Going back to one of my previous posts regarding “working with a blank canvas”, my neighbor’s back garden that I helped plan in May is beginning to fill in, although it will not be until next Spring before the Fintry Delta guests can fully enjoy the flowers and foliage.  Right now there is a lovely mock orange in bloom by the garden and Colleen has installed a welcome sign that adds to the ambiance of the area.   The orange and yellow themed baskets that I also made up are in full bloom now and putting on a great show which again the guests can enjoy.   Now if only the sunflowers would bloom in time for the wedding Colleen….  I keep fertilizing them.
