It has certainly been a memorable week from visiting Coronado Island with its charming old hotel to taking a bus trip to the Gaslamp Quarter in downtown San Diego.   I was particularly taken with many different style homes and gardens in Coronado overlooking pristine white beaches and I am still very much in awe of the tropical plants and flowers.

The Gaslamp Quarter is full of historic buildings and you can never go hungry.  Restaurants galore from Italian, Spanish, Indian & American cuisine. There are numerous little boutique and antique stores which were surprisingly inexpensive, so we were able to pick up a few little treasures along the way.  From this area we walked down to the harbour and my husband was particularly fascinated with the old schooners in dock.  One of which was hosting a school outing and commands were coming left right and centre from the crew on board.  They were obviously trying to reenact how life would have been like on board back in the 1800’s.

Our last day in San Diego, we checked out another seaside community just beyond Point Loma called Ocean Beach Antique District where you can spend many hours exploring or you can just stroll along the beach.

As it is our last evening here in South Park, we are treating ourselves to a meal at Piacere Mio, an authentic Italian restaurant.  The italian owner is so friendly and makes you feel very welcome.

Homeward bound and a few more visits with friends in Pasadena and San Francisco.
