Fall Advancing

Fall is undeniably progressing throughout my garden and the nearby provincial park. The vibrant hues that emerge during this season are absolutely breathtaking.  It seems that there is an abundance of golden and fiery orange shades.

There are numerous leaves on the grass in my front garden. Instead of raking, we opt to wait until all the leaves have fallen and then grind them up with the lawn mower. We then add the mulched leaves to the garden beds which provides excellent protection during the winter months.

The vibrant chrysanthemums and asters provide a burst of color. Furthermore, the striking crimson leaves on the Japanese Maple tree make a bold statement.

I have been relocating delicate plants to the greenhouse. Finally, I uprooted the tomato plants, although they still had a substantial amount of tomatoes on them. I have stored the produce in the garage, hoping that the unripe ones will ripen.

In Fintry Provincial park, the vibrant hues of the autumn leaves are truly captivating.  Each year, I find myself taking the same photos, but it’s always fascinating to compare them to those from previous years. The Avenue, in particular, never fails to be my favorite spot. However, I also have been admiring the newly planted trees scattered throughout the park. There is ongoing work on a recently developed camping area and it seems like there will be hook up options available in this one. I imagine they are working diligently to complete it before the arrival of snow.

Next week, it seems like the temperatures during the night will be dropping. It is getting close to making the decision to move the delicate plants and shrubs from the greenhouse to the garage.

Hope everyone has a very Happy Halloween.  Until next time…

Since commencing my blog post, as anticipated, temperatures have dropped significantly. However, throughout the daytime, it has been sunny and radiant. I am prolonging the operation of my greenhouse by utilizing a heater during the nighttime. If the temperatures decline any further, I will need to relocate those delicate plants.

The garden is becoming more vibrant with the changing autumn colors. However, during the night, I take precautions by covering my containers with burlap. This method has allowed me to preserve the beautiful bronze/orange chrysanthemum from last year, which is planted in a large container.
