Views of Winter Scenes in Fintry Provincial Park
It is quite the challenge at this time of year finding inspiration for my mid January post. There are only so many snow related photos that I can show. Having said that though there are still different kinds of beauty surrounding us. With temperatures varying from – 9 to +3 centigrade over the past few weeks it has given me the opportunity to capture different effects created by varying weather patterns. For example, a sudden thawing enabled me to capture raindrops on the fir and japanese maple trees.
Conversely a sudden drop in temperature allowed me to take photos of foliage that looks like it has just been dipped in icing sugar
More recently we have had a few sunshine breaks that has created powder blue skies. The walks through Fintry Provincial Park have certainly been more enjoyable with less layers of clothing.

On the more gloomy days I can always count on my indoor potted bulbs available at nurseries or some stores like Safeway. These always brighten my day and gives me a glimpse of what is yet to come.
I did not do so well with the ones I tried to bring on this year. I also take comfort in the flowers that are blooming in my garage right now. Although they are in a semi dormant stage there is still an odd bloom or two on the geraniums. I also discovered the other day my pretty pink dianthus had a few flowers too.
