Rockery Bed Deeply Buried in Snow

As the snow continues to fall it was wishful thinking on my part hoping that it would be just a few weeks before we would see new life in the garden.  The one good thing is that there is a deep layer of insulation now on my flower beds.

I am trying very hard to keep positive. Each day I bundle myself up in my snow gear and walk where possible through Fintry Provincial Park.

Even the birds seem to be struggling and puff themselves up against the cold winds.  I continue to console myself by buying forced bulbs and just recently started purchasing some seeds.

I picked up a packet of Potentilla seeds (Fireball mix).  Apparently it is an easy to grow perennial and is double flowering.  It is suitable either for a mid border plant or it works well in a rock garden.  I shall be very interested to see how it performs.  I like the idea too that it is good for cut flowers.
