My garden has gone into a lull as the blooms of the rock garden plants are petering out and new plants are coming into bloom. I noted that the peonies are just about to burst open as well as the oriental poppies, the pyrethrums (painted daisies), polemonium (Jacob’s ladder) and a small yellow lily. It is always a challenge to try and keep the colour going continuously, however, we are still enjoying the blooms and scents of the lilacs and it is always interesting to see the changes in the colours of the foliage. The creeping phlox is still putting on a good show along with the white candytuft (iberis). I forgot to mention that the blue hardy geranium that I love is also in bloom.
I spotted a quail foraging in my garden which I am always fascinated to watch and a little green frog. Since putting in the small water feature, we are always serenaded by the frogs this time of the year although sometimes they can get a little loud and I think the whole of Fintry can hear them.
The leaves of the water lily too are just poking through the pond’s surface which the fish love to weave in and out of.
It is any ever changing landscape and every day there is something new to discover.
