When I was over visiting my daughter this last weekend and helping her to weed and prune her garden, I was taken by some of the brilliant coloured flowers which was enhanced by the early evening sunlight.  At this time of the year, the flowers in general are putting on a last burst of colour prior to them dying down as fall progresses.  I love the colours of the portulaca and californian poppy as well as the dappled light on the apricot rose.   There is also a bright orange snapdragon that caught my eye.  These varieties I will look out for next year.  

About this time last year I assisted my daughter and son-in-law in moving all their patio garden in North Vancouver to their new place in the interior.  Sadly even with heavy mulching we did lose some of the roses but overall most of the plants survived.  My daughter has since added a number of annuals to the garden and the dahlias and cosmos were literally taking over so we cut the flowers and removed them to allow the other perennials some sunlight.  The variety of dahlia was not exactly what my daughter had planned for but I love the delicate pink colours.

Meanwhile in my garden today, I captured more blooms on my gaillardia and my white rose is blooming again.

We have most definitely been fast forwarded to Fall with cooler temperatures and while walking in Fintry Provincial park I could not help but notice that the trees are changing drastically; this may have also been caused by the excessive heat we have had all summer long causing the trees to be dried out.

I do appreciate the different seasons, each having a beauty of its own.
