Blooms Galore & More

With just a few days of rain I suddenly have a burst of colour in the garden with blooms galore and more.  I have dedicated a separate page to peonies but one of the other show stoppers right now is the Papaver Orientale (Oriental Poppy).  I love the peach coloured blooms and how they radiate in the sunlight.  They work well in the mid border in a sunny location.  Be sure to regularly deadhead the flowers, otherwise they easily self seed.

As mentioned in my previous post, a group of painted daisies is adding colour to a dull section of the garden.  I grew these from seed and particularly like the deep pink variety.

These perennial plants do well in the mid border area and can be divided after 3 to 4 years.

We are fast approaching rose season and I have already captured a double red rose blooming in my neighbour’s garden.  Double red rose, neighbour's garden

I also noticed that the rose around my front gate entrance (a single red rose) is starting to bloom.  It will be an amass of colour in the next few weeks and is certainly a welcome sight to the Findleberry Garden.

Meanwhile my hanging baskets are doing really well.  I continue to fertilize each week and I particularly like the orange nemesia and the ruby red calibrachoa as well as the fuschia pink petunia and geranium.

I have to say May and June are one of my favourite times in the garden when everything looks lush and vibrant before the heat of the summer sets in.
