The Beach at Fintry Provincial Park
I decided today to dedicate a post to the many colors of fall in both my garden, Fintry Delta and Fintry Provincial Park. The fall colors have been exceptional this year I believe due to weather patterns. The trees in this area mainly turn yellow in contrast to other areas where the red maples are more prominent. No matter how many times I walk through my neighborhood and the park the scenes never cease to amaze me. I am beginning with a view across to La Casa Resort.
I have been reluctant this year to walk down “the Avenue” due to the abundance of bears this year. As a result of the many wildfires this past summer it allowed wildlife to roam freely throughout the delta and park. I checked for bear scat before my walk and felt more comfortable to amble down my favorite sport.

As I make my way back home I capture a few more shots in the delta along the way.
Meanwhile in my own garden there is plenty of fall color too. When planning a garden it is always a good idea to look for interesting plant material that will extend well into fall through to winter. The maples of course always put on a good show. There are shrubs though such as berberis, barberry, burning bush and even the viriginia creeper whose leaves turn a brilliant red.
Red & Orange Red Leaves throughout my garden & neighborhood
These past few weeks I have been busy preparing the garden for winter including garden clean up of the fallen leaves. We mulch the leaves with the lawn mower and place them on the flower beds. I have slowly been moving tender plants to the greenhouse. Eventually when the temperatures dip well below zero they will be moved to our semi heated garage. The fish too will be moved indoors as the pond completely freezes. We have had a recent battle with raccoons that have been doing nightly trips to the pond. My husband quickly rectified that with putting wire mesh around the pond area.
I have been making the most of the recent mild sunny days. It has certainly extended the life of some of my annual flowers and I have still been picking raspberries, Now as the days get even shorter and the temperatures fall I welcome a reprieve from the garden and focus on other hobbies particularly reading.
